Show Mutuals Plan For Big Celebration Tomorrow morning the festivities beginning at ten thirty,' the annual Mutual Improvement Association day will be held at the Gunnison Valley high school. The program this year will s r-pass r-pass any of the previous years and the prediction is freely made that from the beginning of the program until the conclusion of the dance at night there will be an abundance of fun and enjoyment for the big crowd that is expected. The various committees com-mittees have been untiring-in their efforts in outlinging the program and arranging for the various parts and there is every reason to believe that it will be the banner celebration ci the Mutuals. Beginning at ten thirty there will be a contest in M. Men's quartets, retold re-told stories and the junior boys will contest in orations, the Bee Hive Girls will give several chours selections selec-tions and the junior girls will enthrill the visitors with folks dance. The main event, however, will start at 2 o'clock in the afternoon when a big track meet will be staged at the high school grounds. The events will be open to ail members of the Mutuals Mu-tuals between the ages of 12 a'nd 23 fend some thrilling contests are looked for. In the events for the seniors .here will be racing, standing broad jumping, running broad jumping, pole vault, high jump and shot put. For the Bee Hive Girls there will be 50-yard dash, high jumping and running broad jump. In the junior girls contest there will be standing-broad standing-broad jumping, and a mathical race. The events for the juniors will consist con-sist of a 100-yard dash, a 50-yard dash, 440-yard relay race, pole vauit; high jump an broad jump. The senior sen-ior girls will contest in a novel race. Each contestant will be required to race 25 yards and back, changing a pillow slip three times. - One patrol of the boy scouts will be entered in a relay race, being required re-quired to make the bowline knot on one leg and race 10 yards and back. The scouts will also enter the "firemen's "fire-men's carry" racing ten yards and back. Eevery feature on this program pro-gram will be well worth seeing and in-as-much as points are to be awarded award-ed in all these events the contests arc sure to be keen as the rivalry will be strong. Provisions have been made to enre for the hungry and real piping "hot dogs" lunches and ice- cream will be for sale on the grounds. The celebration cele-bration will conclude with a grand dance at the high school auditorium during the evening. Splendid mi!i will be furnished and old and yo mg will join together in rounding out the annual M. I. A. Day celebration. |
