Show PROGRESSIVE THINKING "Because a town is small there is no reason why its citizens should feel that it is small, for when a people have that feeling they never do much to make a small town grow. Los An geles would not be Los Angeles today iif her people 50 years ago had concluded con-cluded that this was only a small plaete and would never amount to much. That sort of sentiment has held back many towns. The Cham- ber of Commerce in a small town has just as important a business to perform per-form as has a civic organization in a larger city. "This paper publishes news items concerning development work in outside out-side communities. OJnly too 'frequently 'fre-quently the editor receives a communication commu-nication from some secretary in a small town saying, 'As you realize this is only a small place and there is not much doing here in the way 1 of news." That expression creates two impressions. One is that there is something sadly lacking in the make-tip make-tip of the civic organization that should be pushing ahead, and the lOther impression is that the people living in that town do not appreciate hat they have. If they did appreciate apprecia-te their surroundings they would be getting down to work and work pro-yiiioas pro-yiiioas results jandj results .produce hews. In looking through this paper there will be found items of interest donceming some very jsmall communities, com-munities, because the people of those communities are active and have the faith in their towns and as a result those small towns some day are going go-ing to be larger towns while other small towns whose citizens have no faith in them will always (remain small. Big things were never produced pro-duced on a foundation of small ideas. From the Southern California Business, Bu-siness, published by Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. |
