Show Contracts Awarded. For Street Lighting The Telluride Power company was awarded the contract lor the istal-lation istal-lation of the ornamental street lighting light-ing system tor Gunnison City, ac a special meeting ol the city council neid at the Uuy Hall last Monday evening. The bid submitted by the power company for installing the system was $700. The Capital Electric Elec-tric company was the lowest bidder . ior tne supplies and in accordance this company will furnish tne standards, stand-ards, wires, lights and all necessary equipment lor the sysetm. Two other companies made bios hut wen eliminated on account ol higher bids Through this system adopted by the members of the council a big saving was made and as a result the systeu, to be installed will cost but a traction trac-tion over $izu0. At tne meeting Monday several property owners were present ano aided tne council members materially material-ly in selecting the type of post o standard to be used, borne argument uau been ottered against tne installation instal-lation of the system at this time because be-cause the main street was not paved. It was pointed out, however, that as it would require opening up ol . the pavement it the ligntmg system was deterred and upon this representation representa-tion no further objections were ottered. ot-tered. According to the plan there will be twenty lights, ten on the east side and ten on the west side ol Maiii street. The poles will have the stagger effect and will not be symmetrical, sym-metrical, the styie adopted at oalt .bake, Kichlield and other cities to be -lollowed out. The poles will be massive mas-sive in appearance, but substantial and are liom tne manufacturing institution in-stitution ol the Union Metal iVtanu-lacturing iVtanu-lacturing company. The poles will be fourteen feet high and when tne lights are on tne streets wil have a uniform lignt. Throughout the system is to be ol nigh class material and work and wuh the addition the lights will not only prove a big benefit to all but will give the streets a metropolitan appearance. The work of installing the system will start with in the next few weeks and it is proposed to have it complete and in working order belore be-lore real winter weather begins. |
