Show THE ANSWER. It is no uncommon thing for industries indus-tries to' spend great sums advertising to Increase their business. It is an uncommon, thing, however, to see an industry such as the Standard Oil company advertising in half-page space, advising the public to save every drop of gasoline and oil possible pos-sible and refrain from buying except When absolutely necessary. It has been pointed out over and over by private oil companies and by the U. S4 bureau of mines and geological geo-logical survey that oil production is not keeping pace with, consumption in spite of many new fields opened in Texas, Oklahoma, Wyoming and other oth-er states. "Politicians are asking for an investigation of oil prices. The only result of the investigation investiga-tion wi'il be another bill for the taxpayers tax-payers and all the investigation and legislation in the world will not produce pro-duce oil. In fact, an investigation will further curtail production by discouraging the payment of high prices fo'r crude oil and high prices for crude are necessary tod;iy in order or-der to encouage expensive drilling. |
