Show PROTECTING THE PUBLIC In its campaign against swindlers, especially sellers of worthless stock, the federal government will not only prosecute those it believes be-lieves to be guilty, but wiil warn the public when its suspicions are aroused. This was manifested when the Interior department warned warn-ed the public "to scrutinize offers of stock in so-called platinum producing pro-ducing companies proffered by unscrupulous promoters." It was expained that "although the United States, from widely scattered . sources, produces only a few hundred ounces of platinum a year, certain promoters have made fanciful announcements regarding propeitis claimed to contain platinum in commercial quantites. These proomters bolster their claims by the display of erroneous assays which in some instances have reported values as high as $25,-000 $25,-000 worth of platinum to the ton." The safest course before investing is to confer with investment a banker and at least give him a chance to look into the situation and give you the benefit of his expert advice. It costs nothing, so why take a chance. |
