Show MAKOONED ON THE DESERT A bunch of baseball fans that will forego the tortures of being moroon-ed moroon-ed on the lonely desert for a full night and a night full or darkness, rain and lonesomeness without food to eat and water or anything else to drink, can justly be called full blooded blood-ed American baseball fans. This was the lot that befell J. R. Howard, superintendent; L. G. Arnold, office manager; and Hart Sanders, chief chemist, for the Gunnison Valley Sugar company last Sunday night. ' When the boys arrived in Gunnison Monday morning they were a sorry, ; sleepy lot but the first remark was "we enjoyed the ball game at Salt Lake ' just the same." The gentlemen gentle-men motored to the capitol city last Saturday, having been called there on important business maters. They remained over until. Sunday and after af-ter witnessing the "double-header" started for the south. All went well until they were overtaken by a furious furi-ous rainstorm. The roads they were responsible. After leaving Nephi the travelers found mud and more mud and finally they became stranded in the mud, and it was mud until a kindly farmer gave assistance in pulling them to terra firma. But they all enjoyed the baseball game. |
