Show Centerfield. A baby girl was born last Saturday to the wife of Will Johnson. The heavy rain last Saturday afternoon after-noon proved to be more of a baker than a soaker, necessitating the rolling roll-ing of sugar beet patches over again. The weevil and grasshopper make quite a detriment, retarding the growtli of crops in different parts of the field. In consequence of this pesi the alfalfa crop will be very light for the first cutting. Mrs. Dora Nielsen has just returned return-ed to her home at Salt Lake after paying pay-ing a pleasant visit here at the home of Mrs. Ida B. Nielsen. The W. S. S. committees are pushing push-ing their canvass witli the determination determi-nation to reach the top or over by the 2Sth inst. The people repond very readily when called upon. Newton E. Noyes of Kphralm in lils talk as a home missionary here last Sunday emphasized the oppartu- ' nity we have of becoming saviors to mankind as a result of the world's conflict of today. A farewell party was tendered for Leo D. Bardsley at the opera house prior to his departure last Saturday for a mechanic training course at the University of Otah, preparatory for service at the front and to 'which he volunteered. Mr. Bardsley was given a purse of $20 out of the proceeds and $7 was turned over to the soldier boys' reserve fund. A similar party will be had some evening next week for those of the June draft from this place. |
