Show Convenient Lock. A lock that can be locked from one side without a key by the simple turn of the door handle, and that when so locked cannot be opened from the other side of the door was patented recently by Anders Gustaf Anderson of New York. This lock is intended for use on the doors of such apartments apart-ments as bathrooms, private offices or doctors' consulling rooms, in which the certainty of absolute privacy is desired without the use of a key. The bar on which the handles are turned turns a bar that presses against the two arms . of the bolt, thereby drawing this back with the tongue which fastens the door. A tumbler falls into place when the handle han-dle on the inside of the door is turned. When it has fallen the door is locked so far as the outside handle is concerned, con-cerned, for the latter handle cannot move the tumbler and this is in such position that the bolt cannot move back until the tumbler has been turned out of the way, which can be done oaiy from the inside. |
