Show CLARION NEWS. Dec. 9 A. Schwartz, our former school teacher is in San Francisco having a good time. Harry Joseph, the newly appointed receiver for the colony was here last Saturday and placed the red letter R on everything of value in the neighborhood, neigh-borhood, irrespective of the ownership owner-ship if found in possession of Jews who settled in the colony. A number own property tha is not in common with the colony, but Joseph seems to want it all. Chicken theiving is ' occasionally heard of, but not until a few nights ago has such a depredation been known in Clarion, and then it was the animal tribe that undertook the job. S. Leiberman had a lot of valuable valu-able chickens cooped up as he thought in safety, but all at once he missed some 75 of the number and upon investigation in-vestigation found that a badger had done the work. Looking through the coop he was trapped in a cache which had been burrowed by the rodent, which became vicious and showed light. Leiberman at once procured a gun and managed after firing about twenty shots to bring the intruder to terms. Examination of the cache afterward disclosed some sixty of the chickens, which had been packed down by the badger as snug as sardines in a box. This was all done during one night. |
