Show CYCLONES GET TRIMMED THREE The News was the first to announce an-nounce last week that "you couldn't stop the mad rush of the Gunnison ball club." The News will be the first to announce this week that the mad rush can and has been stopped, temporarily, at least. The Cyclones have either ran out of force to tear up the earth, or they have had a streak of real hard luck, and the latter lat-ter is perhaps the most feasible solution. so-lution. Starting out as the team did, ripping off the honors at the three first engagements, was encouraging. encour-aging. Hitting the snag as they have in the last three battles, losing to Fairview and to the Moose team of Salt Lake, is heart rending. But we have hopes and believe the "hoodoo" "hoo-doo" will be off when the lads line up for the next struggle. On July 2 the Cyclones went to Fairview for a return game to the one played here early in the season. The North Sanpeters had strengthened strength-ened their line-up with some imported im-ported material and with an umpire that either favored or did not know the game, the Cyclones met defeat with a score of 6 to 7. The second and third numbers of the defeat of the homers came when the Moose team of Salt Lake picked both games played here on July 4 th and 5th. The game on the 4th resulted re-sulted in a victory to the visitors with the final score of 10 to 7. The Saturday game showed the score 12 to g. The Cyclones are playing at Moroni Mor-oni today and have promised better results. Next Sunday Moroni, comes to Gunnison for the return game and next Thursday, the 17th, Mt. Pleasant Pleas-ant will cut up with the Cyclones on the Gunnison diamond. |
