Show USE ELECTRIC SHEEP-SHEARING OUTFIT SHEARING SHEEP BY ELECTRICALLY-DRIVEN CLIPPERS. In England use is made of a portable electric sheep shearing outfit of a type shown in the drawing. A small gasoline gaso-line engine mounted on a light truck drives a dynamo which sends current out over the improvised transmission line. At regular intervals motors are operated from this line, each motor driving a flexible shaft carrying on the end a set of clippers or shears. A very high Fpeed must be maintained by these motors 2,S(X) and 3,000 revolutions revolu-tions a minute in order to give suffi cient vibratory speed to t),(. f.)1(.;ir blades to enable them to cut through a heavy fleece. The same machine can be used fur horse clipping also. In that case a speed of only 2,))0 revolutions a miu-ute miu-ute is required. The English company com-pany which makes the machine lias, therefore, devised a two-speed motor which is available not only for its regular reg-ular work but for other power purposes pur-poses about the farm.
