MAYOR HAS BIRTHDAY. j Mayor J. M. Knighton had a birthday birth-day last Sunday, but just what milestone mile-stone he passed cannot be learned, the mayor being too modest to let it out. At any rate the event was not forgotten by Mrs. Knighton and to commemorate the occasion a pleasant pleas-ant and decidedly successful surprise was given Mr. Knighton, The Knighton home was tnvaded by some thirty friends, unannounced, and Mi. Knighton, who had not been "let in" on the plan, was captured. The affair af-fair proved most successful and a most enjoyable evening was spent in card playing, music and a general social time. Refreshments were served the guests.
