Show CITE AS CATS. The SharjHKt Burgomasters of the Country Live in a Small Car he Valley Town. A Bugler reporter got the following fol-lowing tale this week from a prominent Logan lawyer, so of course it is "straight goods:" A short time ago some of the officers of-ficers of a small incorporated town near Logan took it into their heads that they desired to be "all same big city," and therefore their ordinances ordi-nances particularly should correspond corres-pond in a general way with those of metropolitan towns and the statutes. So they sent to Salt Lake City for one of the best legal lights of the Territory to come and revise their ordinances. Arrivingatthe Mayor's oflice, Mr. Lawyer was handed the book in which the great laws that govern that little community were recorded. On the first page he iouna the ordinance upon which all the others looked for support; it read as follows: Be it known by all men that any and all ordinances ordi-nances contained in this book which would otherwise be illegal and invalid in-valid because of improper wording and any other irregularities, are hereby made perfect, whole and sound. Subscribed and sworn to, etc., etc. The dumbfounded lawyer closed the book; told the pleased officials his services were not needed; took up his hat and boarded the first train for home.. |
