Poulson, stake clerk was a visitor officially in Gunnison and Fayette, Fay-ette, yesterday. A number of family gatherings and social home entertainings have been the order during the Christmas weak. The church premises adjoining the school lot is being supplied with a new fence of square pickets and the causeway graded. Snow seems to be one of the scarcities scarci-ties at this time in Gunnison valley. A clear sky and dusty roads to begin the year! The rabbit hunt at Fayette last Monday came out a tie. A good lot of the bunnies were gathered as a result of the hunt. Horse buyers have been with uq two pr three times recently, but each time paying poorer prices. Dr. Kelson of Ephraim lectured before be-fore a large gathering of the Mutual-Improvement Mutual-Improvement associations last Sunday Sun-day night. The associations are this season uncommonly active, under the presidency of Ernest L. Swalbergand Mrs. Elsie K. Bartholomew. Hy Olson visited in this city, his former home, during the week. Mr. Olson resides in Bozeman, Montana, He appeared elated with the opportunity oppor-tunity once more of handing the shake to his numerous friends here. He left this office a paid renewal of his subscription for two years. Just what we like, Hy; but were please.d to see you, anyhow. The entertainment given by the Primary association Christinas day was an occasion of gladness to the little folks. The Christmas tree was attractively decorated, the children gave a most excellent program and at the conclusion were handed presents as they filed from the hall. A dance was given by the Sunday school as an afternoon attraction. Santa was not alone in paying Christmas day visits and handing out gifts. The sto:;k took a hand in making mak-ing the round, rather partial it is ad -mitted, leaving with Mr. and Mrs. L. IT. Erickson a , 12. pound son "not a lifeless, life-less, useless toy, but a lively bouncing boy" and one that gives evidence of assuming the boss role in Lowry's domicile. A neighboring editor was recently much interested in a scientific note he encountered in a city paper to the. effect that if the earth was flattened the sea would be: two miles deep all over the world, The editor reprints the note with the following comment: com-ment: "If any man is caught flattening flatten-ing the earth, shoot him on the spot. There are several of us in this state who can't swim.'' |
