Show CITY COUNCIL FURTHER PLANS With the ordering of the publication publica-tion of the intention to pave certain sidewalks in Gunnison another step towards the improvement was made by the city "dads" at a special meeting meet-ing held last Saturday evening. A the meeting J. M. Knighton, who as mayor, had been appointed a committee com-mittee of one to secure data and prepare pre-pare the notice of intention, made his report and without argument, ii: was unanimously accepted. The time set for hearing protests was set for August 25, at 8 o'clock p. m. Since the move for the walks was started applications have been made by property owners to be included in the improvement work and as a result re-sult an additional district has been added to the first set. James Bown and property owners on North Main street asked that the east side of Main street, north from Center street to the north line of the Bown property be paved with cement walks and this will be included in the walks that were included in the first intention. According to the plans mapped out by the members of the city council, coun-cil, all of the walks, excepting those on Main street, between Center and Second South streets, will be four feet wide, while those in front of the Knighton and Swain properties will be twelve feet in width. In the write-up of the first proposed pro-posed intentions, the News overlooked overlook-ed mentioning that the south side of Second South, east for one block, would be improved with walks. The time for hearing the protests, it there io any and it is not expected there will be, is set for August 25 and if the movement goes through the paving will be hurried with all possible speed. |
