Show Orem Interurban Coming to Sanpete-Sevier. The Orem line lias completed a right of way and a tralllc survey from Its terminus at Payson through the Sanpete valley, and it was learned last week that announcement may be made next spring concerning the proposed pro-posed extension, which is to take in Nephi, Ft. Green, Moroni, Ephraim, Manti, Gunnison and Salina, by way of Salt Creek canyon. Estimates of the cost of construction and the returns re-turns are now beingcompiled by the engineers in charge of the work. The survey is the first actual work done on the extension. The engineers figure there is a population of 18,000 to be served along the proposed right of way, in addition to the freight and express business, which would be exceptionally ex-ceptionally heavy if this valley was given a frequent train service to Salt Lake p.?)d other centers of population. Some of the industries that would be particularly benefited by frequent train service are truck farming and dairying. The coming of the interurban interur-ban would also probably work a revolution revo-lution in other lines of business by bringing the towns of Sanpete county In closer, touch with the business centres. The estimates of passenger and freight business are being made on the same system as those for the extension ex-tension of the road from Provo to Payson. The Orern line report shows that the passenger business of the road yields 65 per cent of the gross earnings earn-ings and that the freight and express business yields 35 per cent. The net earnings of the road are greater in proportion to the population served than the net earnings of the Illinois Traction, the largest interurban in the country, or the Ohio Traction company, the second largest.
