Show To Celebrate Fourth. To the call of Mayor Christenson for a citizens' meeting Monday evening ev-ening to determine upon the suggestion sugges-tion of observing the Fourth of July holiday in Gunnison there responded an even ten persons, namely Mayor Christenson and Recorder Sorenson of the city's officials, Bishop Ras-mussen, Ras-mussen, Dennis Beauregard, Austin Mayfield, L. D. Christenson, L. H, Childs, Clifford Childs, Andrew Mo-deen Mo-deen andN. Gledhill. Undaunted by the meagre attendance attend-ance action was taken deciding that a celebration of Independence day should take place and a general committee com-mittee was selected from among the young people, with Dennis Beauregard for chairmau, to arrange ar-range the affair, The six members aside from the general chairman it was provided should each head as many sub-committees of their own selecting. Following are the names comprising compris-ing the general committee: Dennis Beauregard, chairman. Andrew Modeen. John W. Jones, Clifford Childs, Susan Swaiu. Mildred Swaiu. Vio Sorenson. Upon notification the committee acted promptly, beginning next day a fund-campaign and met considerable considera-ble success in their work. Meeting on Wednesday evening they decided that one committee could attsnd to all details and arranged at once tho days's program. The plan outlines forenoon exercises exer-cises in the opera house and outside sports including a matched ball game for the afternoon attraction. Plenty of music will be dispensed by the band, commencing at an eary. hour. The program in detail will appear in the Gazette next issue. Shooting in any form, the committee commit-tee decided would not have their approbation, ap-probation, so that Gunnison will be one of the spots for a safe and sane Fourth as usual. |
