Show Not very long ago a man over in the eld country was arrested and fined for half starving his children and for uot Bending them to school. He pleaded as an excuse that as hs kept several dogs he was too poor to clothe and feed his children properly or educate edu-cate them, bnt the hard hearted judge was uumoved by such a plea and he had to pay. On a par with such a man are those women whose chief (unction in life seems to be tne pet-' pet-' tng and kissing of lap dogs. Such people, whether men or women, who think more of horses and dogs than of their own families are a blot upon civilization civ-ilization and a disgrace to society. It betokens a Bhallow mind, perverted taste and an ingrained selfishness, It ii not the fault of the dogs or the Jjrses. In truth they probably staDd higher in the scale of brutes than their foolish masters and mistresses do in the scale of humanity they could soarcely stand lower. |
