This Is to be done in commemoration of the memory of the first white trader and because of the historical value of the spot. The cabin U being erected in the northeastern part of the park and on the exact piece of ground on which the cabin of Jack Vieau, the first white man who traded with the Indians in what is now known as Mil-- Mil-- waukee, was located away back in 1791. The cabin will be a model oi the rough cabins which were built In those days. The site on which stood the log cabin of Vieau, the Frenchman, so many years ago was located by Hans Reinertson, a member of the Old Settlers' Set-tlers' club. Mr. Reinertson had In his possession papers relating to the location, and with the aid of these it was found. Milwaukee Sentinel. |
