Show Strike Soon to Se Settled. St. Paul. Both the railroads and the men are now sanguine of an early settlement of the strike difficulties. Governor Eberhardt, through whose efforts the strikers and the railroads were enabled to reopen negotiations and who was the first to suggest a ref- erence ot ine questions involved, to the Chicago conference, declares that the outlook for an immediate settlement settle-ment is bright. The engineers and firemen have now presented demands for an increase of 15 to 40 per cent in wages. |
