Show ANNUAL FEVH? i ; J I remember, I remember The seeds I sowed last year. The little garden where I planned The cabbage should appear. The turnips and the lettuce, too, The onions and the pease And still I have the catalogue With pictures bound to please. I remember, I remember The flowers I set out, The roses and the peonies With candytuft about, The mignonnette, the clematis, The zinnias here and there Their pictures in the catalogue Where gorgeous, big, and fair. I remember, I remember ine way tne garaen grew The Hardy Giant Butter Beans That barely faltered through, The Dwarf Tomatoes that grew tall, The Early Beans too late; And the Luscious Juicy Cantaloupes That no one ever ate. I remember, I remember The flowers that came up To be the sport of Thompson's boys And of McTlmmins' pup, The morning glory vines that reached The porch floor ere the frost And the man I hired to pull the weeds, I think of what he cost. I remember, I remember, And hide my hoe and spade; Tills year no garden shall be dug Nor flower bed be made. J'd rather read the catalogues And buy stuff at the store Than to rage beneath the summer sun j As In the year before. j |
