Show Christmas Programs. II Kill SCHOOL. Heginn lug the festal week was the exercises held last Friday evening by the high school. Admission was by purchase of chances in drawing for prizes consisting of fancy boxes of candy. A big crowd at tended. The program rendered was excellent in every part., a prize for the best story beinga leading feature and was procured pro-cured by Lowell Kosenvall. I I'KBLIC SCHOOL. Tuesday evening was selected for a Christinas program by the Washington Washing-ton school, and was held in the P. S. hall. liefore the time set to begin, all available seats were taken. The school children were arranged principally princi-pally on the stage, while so much crowded wil h visitors was the main hal 1 that a number were obliged to stand, thus obscuring the view and detracting from the pleasure of a 'number who had previously obtained ob-tained seats. Hut the real spirit; of Christmas pervaded and in spite of the crowded condition w as a feeling of "Peace and Good Will" to all. Principal Ras-mus.son Ras-mus.son conducted the exercises with commendable precision, assisted by his corps of teachers. The parts rendered reflected appropriate and choice selection and a careful training train-ing for this event of the child's de- ngnt. A Christinas tree, appropriate decorations, dec-orations, gifts galore, and a visit from good old Santa gave an inspiration of delight and merriment that will not soon be forgotton. PRESBYTERIAN CHAPEL. Christmas eve was the time chosen for holding the celebration at the Presbyterian chapel. Miss Curtis and aids spared no pains in arranging the decorations, and the result was a most artistic intertwine of the season's sea-son's colors in every part of the chapel, culminating in the familiar greeting "Glory to God." Santa Claus was afforded af-forded entrance, as a tinale to the program, pro-gram, through an attractively built built chimney piece to the delight of the children, and who were then handed presents. The program of ex. ercises were made up of the season's allusion in music, song and declamation, declama-tion, and constituted a real Christinas treat. WARD SUNDAY SCHOOL. For some cause little interest seemed seem-ed to be taken in the ward Sunday-school Sunday-school program, given at 1 o'clock in the afternoon of Christmas day. Very few were present in time and it started start-ed a half hour late. Due to some of the parts failing in response to promise the program was a short one. But it was rendered very well. C. E. Ferre directed; Elmer Kearns substituted K. S. Roper's assignment to lecture and gave an interesting elucidation of the Saior's birth and mission; Mary Bywater gave a talk explanatory of the season's custom of gift-making; a few recitals by the children and the appearance of Santa Claus with bags of confectionery for the assembiy all made up a list of exercises in Christmas theme lasting forty-five minutes. |
