Show CENTERF1ELD. Farmers are busy putting up hay, but ara being hindered somewhat ou account of rain. While the crop is a little short, small grain and tho gardens gar-dens are looking fine . It is believed hay this year will fetch a good price here on account of shortage in surrounding sur-rounding places Miss Hattie Fisher of Bountiful is here, visiting her brother George and I family. Mrs. Cook and fami!-are likewise like-wise guests at the Fisher home and Mrs. V. Nelson is entertaining her sister, also from Bountiful. A surprise party was enjoyed by a number of the friends and neighbors, at tiie home of Mr. and Mrs. Birmingham on last Saturday Satur-day evening. Fremont Barnes and family drove orer to Round valley last Thursday. Mr. Barnes says the dry farm crops in that section ara Innkinc finn. 0 Mr. and Mrs. H. Dau of Minden, Iowa, returned home Saturday, after an extended stay at the home of Mr. Barnes. Mr. Dau owns a farm at Axtell ; he is pleased with the locality and ia planning to move out to this valley next season. Willis Livings'on, who has charge of the office work pt the Parker ranch, spent Sunday with his parents in Manti. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rapp, who have recently come from Omaha and located near the Gunnison depot, were visitors at the Parker ranch last Tuesday. Some of the sugar beet fields are looking Sne in this vicinity, but a few of the farmers bad to replant on account ac-count of the seed being poor and the effects of cold weather. A number of the Sunday school officers attended from this place the stake conference of the organization held in Manti last Sunday. (From Another' Correspondent. ) A grand wedding reception in honor hon-or of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney J. Fjeldsted, Fjeld-sted, who were married in the Manti temple Wednesday, took place the next evening at the home of the bride 8 parents , Mr. and Mrs. N P Sorenson of Axtell. Participating iu the event were about 200 guests, several sev-eral friends joining from Centerfield, Gunnison, Ephraim and Saliua The repast was elaborately laid on a half dozen tables set under the shade of trees. There was a splendid array of presents to the new couple and a splendid time had by all present. The wife of Sofus Christensonn arrived ar-rived from Denmark last week, making mak-ing happy her huspand who preceded her to this place a little over a year ago. Professor Lambert, food inspector from the agricultural college, made an official visit through this section and has left some good suggestions. D C Dalby and wife are visiting here from Levan, We are going to do our best next Tuesday to make this a "dry" town. |
