Show j Divided by a Cliu.ll Lln. There are two young men in this city , who have roomed together for some time ! j past, but who now don't speak as they pass by. There never was any warm ! 1 friendship between them, their tastes and ; habits being very dissimilar, but they ; j roomed together for reasons of economy. j Upon taking the room it was divided into 1 two equal portions by drawing a chalk line across the floor, each agreeing to ; confine himself to his own half of the : ; room. They soon got used to this and I i when, in the course of time, the chalk : j mark became obliterated, it was not , j necessary to renew it, so accustomed had they become to keeping within their respective re-spective bounds. j All went well until one Sunday, when : a visitor called on one of the young men. I i The other one was out, and the visitor j knowing nothing about the division of ' the room, seated himself in the portion i belonging to the absent man. When the latter returned snd found him there he ! gruffly ordered him to go to his friend's 1 side of the chamber. Then tho fires of hatred which hail smoldered so long broke out, and a rough-and-tumble light ensued between the two room mates, with ths result that they now occupy separuto apartments.
