Show TOLTON TO LEAD DEMOCRATS. Beaver County Man Selected by Democrats Dem-ocrats for Governor of Utah. Salt Lake City. The Democrats ol Utah in convention on Thursday placed a complete state ticket in the field, headed by John F. Tolton, of Beaver county, for governor. Tolton was selected on the fourth ballot. The platform of the Democrats is a long and vigorous document. It was prepared for the most part in advance of the convention by leading Democrats, Demo-crats, who had decided it was necessary neces-sary that the platform should set forth fully the principles and other merits of the party. The platform declares de-clares for the initiative, the referendum referen-dum and the recall, and other advanced ad-vanced political measures. , The contests for congress and governor gov-ernor were the only serious ones of the convention. Most of the other candidates were named by acclamation. acclama-tion. The Democrats adopted a plank in their platform declaring for a nonpartisan non-partisan educational system and the appointment 'of the superintendent of public instruction by a non-partisan board of education. A. C. Nelson, present superintendent of public instruction, in-struction, was indorsed for re-election to this position. The ticket follows: For Governor John Frank Tolton, Beaver. For Congressmen-at-Large Matho-nihah Matho-nihah Thomas, Salt Lake, and Tillman Till-man D. Johnson, Ogden. For Justice of the Supreme Court Le Grand Young, Salt Lake. For Secretary of State Charles England, Logan. For Attorney General Joseph W. Stringfellow, Salt Lake. For State Auditor John S. Blain, Spring City. For State Treasurer John. F. Men-denhall, Men-denhall, Springville. For State Superintendent of Public Instruction A. C. Nelson, Salt Lake- For Presidential Electors Jesse Knight of Provo, O. W.
