Show SUGAR FACTORY GOES SOUTH. One For Gunnison Yalley When Farmers Disposed to Raise Necessary Beet Supply. W. H. Gribble and H. M. Childs, as a delegation from Gunnison city, joined Mr. Livingston of the Spalding Spald-ing company in an auto spin as far as Redmond early Saturday morning, returning before lime for departure of the north bound train. The trip was mads to meet the lVrnM-H Austin nf the Utah Siifar company and present to them the claims of this valley aud North Sevier for the proposed factory. The committee com-mittee returned in good spirit, though assured that the coveted plum would go to the people south. It is now certain, however, that if the district uorth of Richlield hbows a willingness to raise the product necessary to supply a factory, another anoth-er will be erected soma place at this end of the valley, in due time. This should encourage the farmers to take hold, having in the meantime the privilege to Bupply beets for the factory south after this year. There should be no mistaking of tne sugar company's policy, to place factories only where there is a demonstration dem-onstration of beet supply. To this end every farmer in Gunnison vallej should round to and show that we can supply the necessary product. It Bhould be easy to seoure at wagon haul distance 2,000 actea or more for this kind of crop, without unnecees-sary unnecees-sary curtail to the raising of other farm products. That the factory proposed for this section in 1911 will be erected in the sugar beet belt south of Richfield, we have the assurance of one whose say will go a long way with the executive workers in the Utah Sugar company. The farmers in that sec-tioi sec-tioi have shown an earnestness that counts. Like work is needed in Gunnison valley if we want a BUgar factory. Get bnsy. |
