Show SlUIER SCHOOL. Profs, stewarl ami Whltinc, Instructors Over Sixty Teachers Present. The Summer School for the ! teachers of Boxelder County convened con-vened Monday at 8 a. m. in the east room of the Court House. A part of the forenoon was occupied in registering the students, and in discussing the program, which was slightly altered, and to which were added the studies of Botany, Grammar Gram-mar and History. After tlx1 preliminaries pre-liminaries were settled the real work of the school began. The instructors instruc-tors outlined their proposed work and talked briefly on text books and works of reference to be used in the month's course of study. Prof. W. M. Stewart, of the University Uni-versity of U tab, then arose to introduce in-troduce his subjects of Pedagogy, Psychology and Mathematics. He was given a reception by the teachers teach-ers that amounted to little less than an ovation. The Professor m ay fee 1 well a ss u red that the teachers valued his able efforts in the institute last year. Prof. C. A. Whiting, instructor of Natural Science and Physics, is also of the University of Utah. Although the Professor Has a stranger, personally, to most of the teachers present, yet already they appreciate his thoroughly scientific manner of presenting subjects and his liberal culture, hut, fii-.-itof ull,bis unfeiguedly sincere endeavor to be helpful to others, that has won for him in our State -University the name of the "students' friend." The committee, Angus Vance, F. W. Fiahburn and Mr. Anderson, are to be congratulated on securing two such efficient instructors for the school. Every session of the school this week has been attended by a, large number of teachers and aspirants for positions. The average attendance attend-ance will probably exceed sixty. Visitors to the school, have been numerous. The county teachers are showing a great deal of interest in the course of study now well started.
