Show DARING AVIATOR FALLS FOUR HUNDRED FEET Philip Parmalee, One of the Daring Pupils of the Wright Brothers, Meets Death at Washington Fair. North Yakima, Wash. Philip O. Parmalee, one of the daring young pupils of the Wright Brothers and holder of the American endurance record in aviation, fell to his death on Saturday before the eyes of thousands thou-sands of visitors to the fair grounds aere. The expert, who was used to remaining re-maining in ti 3 air for hours without iccident, had been up only three min-ites min-ites when a contrary gust of wind caught the tail of his aeroplane and ;urned it comp'.etely over. Parmalee clung to the framework, but the' plane shot straight to the ground from a height of 400 feet. When it crumpled itself into a shapeless shape-less heap in a field three miles distant dis-tant from the fair grounds, the young aviator falling beneath the wreckage. Parmalee was a native of Michigan, 27 years old and unmarried. |
