Show Nqw Comers Reception. The New Comers Reception at the Presbyterian church on New Year's day was well atteuded, especially by those new iu the community. The music by Mrs. Clark, Axtell, Mrs. Ted Smith, Miss Nora Weiser, Mrs. C Childs, Mrs. Eiyent Kearus, and Mrs. Hamil on received applause, as did the declamations of Mrs. Over-felt, Over-felt, Mrs. Jensen aud Mrs. Villard. In t!ie evening Judge Cherry told a cinracteri8tic Btory, a report of one he bad heard Mark Twain teil years ago. It was thoroughly appreciated, as was a story iu a different vein by Dr. Martin of Mauti. During the afternoon and evening the curios on display were much enjoyed. en-joyed. Ladies were surprised to learn tbat men could ex erne sucq hue needle work aud drawn work as were ondispUy. Curius from both Japan and Korea were interesting and instructive. in-structive. A light luncheon was served both afternoou and evening, two sessions bei'ig held. Everybody expressed themselves well pleased with the euteriaiument. |
