Show B THE PROPOSED NEW FRANCHISE. MM The new proposed franchise to the Utah Light & Railway company seems a reasonable one. H It gives the company a forty-five years' right of H way and virtual monopoly of the passenger car- H riage and lighting of the city, and protects it in H its rights. Forty-five years is a long time in this MM swift age. The chances are great that within five H years from this date the cost of electric light- H mg will be reduced 40 per cent. If the dreams of H electricians materialize it certainly will, and the J same reduction will attach to electrical power. The forfeitures provided by the proposed fran- aj cWse are all necessary. It reas as though it wag prepared in a spirit of perfect fairness to the company. If passed we think it will add quite $2,000,000 to the value of the company's property. |
