Show WHY EZRA THOMPSON SHOULD BE ELECTED. His election would mean the progress of the city. Realty values would almost immediately increase in-crease to the amount ot at least $1,000,000. It would mean the crushing of the Smoot machine here, and the obliteration of Fussy Anderson An-derson and Curly Callister as leaders and dictators dic-tators in municipal politics. His election would signify that a man can be elected in this city without catering to the ecclesiastical influence which is a menace to free institutions and clean American politics. The water plans would be carried out, but on a strictly business basis, and without suspicion of graft or possible interference from the church president. After serving for one term as mayor of the city, his administration was endorsed by Mormons Mor-mons and Gentiles alike, because of its fairness and efficiency, although his second term was handicaped and its effectiveness partially nullified by the very faction which is now represented by both of the opposing candidates. No ecclesiastical influence would have any bearing upon his conduct of municipal affairs. Salt Lake City would take the first step toward to-ward becoming the great metropolis of the inter-mountain inter-mountain country, instead of being, as it now is, an antedeluvian city, shunned by capital and derided de-rided by real Americans. |
