Show Subterraneous Streams M THERE are several streams, some of them H large ones, in Nevada, that sink in the des- H ert. The sinking of shallow wells near Call- H ente and the striking of a great flow of water in a shaft on the Escalante mine seem to confirm the H belief that all the waters that sink in eastern and H southern Nevada, through subterraneous channels, H find their way to the Colorado river. The Snake H river in Idaho is likewise given to burrowing in the jJ lava rock on its right bank. Wood river is an- H other example. At Salmon Falls the springs, as M they are called, burst out of the bank. Springs M must have a source or they would after a while H go dry, but the Salmon Falls are fed from an un- M failing source. H That reminds us that there is a big fissure in H Emigration canyon, and it seems plain enough M that its waters get to the Jordan nearly opposite H this city. When all other water sources are ex- M hausted, a little drilling and pumping about Lib- 1 erty Park will come to the rescue. H |
