Show Mining. The Wolverine Group. "Honest money" has been a catch phrase for scores of years In this country, and gold, silver and paper currency have had their eloquent advocates advo-cates throughout the length and breadth of thiB wonderful land; but the crude products of the soil, obtained by the sweat' of the brow, are the true types of genuine currency wrung from Nature's vast stores without intrigue or chicanery and stamped with the imprint of honesty, nobility and true manhood. A mine bringing in wealth and plenty to its possessors is the truest type of an unsullied fortune which this world will ever produce. Among the great mines of this country none have taken a higher rank as liberal producers pro-ducers than those of Park City, and the name of tho camp has become synonymous with success throughout the intermountain States. Many of the mines of this justly celebrated camp rank among the best producers and dividend-payers in the world, and tho prediction that "there are better bet-ter inines yet to be discoverd than today ex4sf" has been proven during the past few years in this great mining camp. The Crescent, Daly West. Ontario and several more mines now in opera tion in that district havo received an addition to their number which bids fair to rank with them both as a great producer and as a "stayer" for all time. The Wolverine group, which is located about three and one-half miles from Park Cits, in the Snake Creek mining district, was discov-eied discov-eied in the early '70s, and the claims comprising this group lie well within the great mineral belt surrounding Park City. The formation of the Wolverine is identical with that of the Southern Tier mine, which joins it on the west, and which has shipped during the past few years, from mere surface workings, nearly $100,000 in ore from oiiw chute. On the east of it is the Boulder group, while nearly adjoining on the north is the Daiy-Judge Daiy-Judge group, whose richness is well known. The Wolverine contact is fractured with a network of veins filled with fine crystalized quartz, and yielding, yield-ing, at grass roots, a carbonate ore carrying silver, lead and gold. A short tunnel has been driven near the top of the hill on the "Wolverine contact, showing the dip of the vein, and a well-defined streak of ore was encountered in this working, showing about sixty ounces of silver, a trace of gold and lead. A. 500-foot tunnel has been run lower down the mountain, and within 100 feet of the breast of this tunnel a six-foot fissure was encountered, showing fair values in gold and silver, with traces of lead. This fissure is being followed with the expectation that it will develop a good body of ore. A turn has been made at the end nt the tunnel and work is progressing toward the contact, con-tact, which, it is expected, will be reached within a short time, and which will tap, at a depth of over 800 feet, the Immense blow-out which has been prospected on the surface near the top of the mountain. If the surface indications go for anything, as to width, permanency and richness this contact ill be as rich as any ore bodies which have ever en opened up in the Park City district. Three shifts are now at work at tho mine, and the best equipment which money can secure is on the ground and en route, for the best handling of this most promising property. The "Wolverine Is well located for economical working, with water, timber tim-ber and accessibility equal to any in the district, and it is a safe prediction to say that with de-velopment de-velopment the "Wolverine should rank second to nue in that rich mineral belt. The "Wolverine is capitalized at 150.000 shares, of a par value of l per share, and with abundant funds in its treasury, the highest grade equipment already on toe ground and ample evidence of great rich ness and permanency of Its great mineral-bearing ledges, there can be no doubt that this fine property prop-erty will soon rank on a par with any of the great producers in Park City camp. The stock of the company is now quoted at $3 per share, but the next sixty days' work should tap the expected ore body, in which event Wolverine stock will go sky-rocketing until it finds a resting place among tho top-notchers of the bonanza camn. |
