The annual meeting of the Uncle Sam Gon 1 solidated Mining company was held this week and the old board of directors was unanimously reelected re-elected to serve for the ensuing year. Their reports re-ports read at the meeting covered a period of ten and one-half months and were very gratifying. The company has "over $11,000 in the treasury and enough ore" loaded on care for shipment lo disburse the May pay rolls and increase the amount in the treasury to $12,00, or more than enough to build the contemplated new mill. Before Be-fore another week closes it is expected that all arrangements for the erection of 'the plant will have been completed antf that construction will follow at once. In the mine there is estimated to be at least 20,000 tons of milling ore now blocked out. H w vv H The final preliminaries have been arranged by H Robert Gorlinski, the promoter of the St. Louis- H Vassar Mining & Milling company, and the com- D pany was formally launched when the articles of B incorporation were filed a few days ago. The B company is capitalized at $300,000, represented B by as many shares of the par value of $1 each, B one-third of the amount going into the treasury B of the company. The officers of the company are B Michael Shaughnessy, president; Robert Gorlin- B ski, vice president; J. R. Walker, secretary and B treasurer. The other incorporators are Ezra B Thompson, J. C. Lynch, James A. Miner, M. A. B Hughes, James Hogle and James Hogle Trustee. M The'company owns the St. Louis, West St. Louis, K Vassar and Vassar No. 2 lode claims adjoining the Woverme on the west and upon what is be-K be-K lieved to be the southwest extension of the Quincy contact. 1' r & & & ) I" M. M. Johnson, manager of the Newhouse company's Cactus copper bonanza in Beaver coun- Ety, returned from his conterence with Mr. New-house New-house at New York this week. The plan of campaign cam-paign was roughly sketched out and Mr. Johnson returns to carry it out without a moment's delay i other than necessarily comes with the rounding 1 out ot such a vast undertaking. Mr. Newhouse J is expected here within the next ten days, and it ! is likely that the awarding of contracts for ma- , chinery and supplies will be under way by that time. i& 16T fc5 Manager W. C. Tracy, accompanied by Secretary Secre-tary Kelly and M. M. Johnson, of the Wheeler & Wilson company, .visited the company's Big Cottonwood Cot-tonwood mines oh Sunday and returned Monday evening with a lot of samples from the ore body now being developed. Manager Tracy says the vein is gradually widening and from the samples brought down it is very evident that the quality is, growing better, also. Theore is a heavy iron I carbonate carrying a fine percentage of steel ga- j lena and some chlorides. Ore sacks have been 1 sent out of the mine and as development pro- ' gresses the best rock will be saved for shipment and later arrangements will be made to send ore ' out regularly. The officials are very much pleased 1 with the showing made in the mine so far. !'l . & & & Manager Dusseldorf returned from the Corn-stock Corn-stock after spending several days at the mine and mill. Tho latter, he says, is doing very nicely, but as yet has been running slowly, treating about thirty tons of crude ore daily and making about ten tons of high-grade concentrates. When he left camp about eighty-five tons of concentrates were at tho sampler, but the roads are not yet in good condition for hauling. |
