B Theie are very few artists on the stage dearer K Iff ' to the hearts of the theatre-goers of this city than H tt Nat Goodwin, and his houses will e K fh crowded every night, notwithstanding the m p crush that will precede him at "The Tom Show." B ,! f Our own Julia Dean, flushed with the glittering B j success that has marked her rapid rise since B i - sne made her stage vdebut, will receive the ova- B m i tion she deserves, and the first night of "The Altar B i of Friendship" in Salt Lake should mean much to B $f 1 this clever girl. Of the play itself, the usual sac- B y j j rifle 0 which is the feature of most of the Madeline B pj I Lucette Ryley plays is fixed up for Goodwin, with B m I the usual happy conclusion. It is a Goodwinesque B l ij play with all the "business" that he is famous B 1) j ( lor making it additionally attractive. There is B ,J the some sentiment and humor and pathos to be B j 5 j found as in "When We Were Twenty-ope," and B lS. it has pleased thousands during its long winter H j I run. Briefly, the story is this: Richard Arbuth- B I I not, a novelist, has an amanuensis over whom he B f is guardian, her father being in prison. Arbuth- B f ; not also has a sister, Florence (Julia Dean), and H u , a very dear friend! Arnold Winnifrith, who has H Jj f wronged Mary Pinner, the amanuensis, This, H' ; ' however, the novelist does not know. This does Hfjti ,1 not trouble the mind of Winnifrith to any great Hj ) 11 extent, and he is about to marry Florence. Pa H i Pinner finishes his term in prison, and seeks his Hj daughter's betrayer, whom he thinks is the novel- Hj 1st, and Arbuthnot, for his sister's sake, allows 1 Pinner to believe him guilty. It takes another B act for the old man to learn the truth, and they B j live happy ever after. Besides Mr. and Mrs. Good- k-W win, the cast contains: Neil O'Brien, L. B.
