Show CHRISTMAS SONNET. The Christmas carols ring out on the air, The Christmas bells in joyous chimes are pealing: peal-ing: One seems to hear again the Angel choir, To see again the fear-swept shepherds kneeling; To hear again the wondrous voice proclaim "Peace, peace on earth, and unto men good will." That voice that through the solemn midnight came, The waiting world to startle and to thrill. Dead centuries roll back their winding sheet. Dead years awake when is rehearsed that story, Of how the dull world's pulse the swifter beat, When o'er the manger in its blinding glory Tho star stood still, a signal true from heaven, That to mankind a Saviour had been given.
