Show HudsoiVs Meurket Letter. Salt Lake City, Aug. 21, 1902. The market during the past week lias been greatly improved over the week previous, and there seems to be considerable buying orders coming in from the East. We are quite confident that during the next few months there is going to be quite an toctivity in stocks, and we expect that many of the low-priced shares especially will make heavy advances. The shipments from Tintic and Park City districts dis-tricts for the past week are as follows: From Tintic Yankee Con., 6 cars; Uncle Sam, 5; Gemini, 6; Eureka Hill, 7; Eagle & Blue Bell, 1; Bullion-Beck, 5; Star Con., 5; Mammoth, 14; Grand Central, 10; Carisa, 8; South Swansea, 6. The Mammoth will also send one bar of bullion. From Park City Daly West, 3,209,130 pounds; Ontario, 1,234,870 pounds; Silver King (estimated), 1,500,000 pounds. Ajax has been inactive and prices have remained re-mained firm at from 33 to 35 cents. Carisa has been selling at about 25 cents, and seems quite firm at these figures. The annual meeting of the stockholders will be held on the 30th of the month, and at that time a full report of the financial condition con-dition of the company and the physical condition of the mine will no doubt be given to the public. There will be some changes made in- the directorate direc-torate and it is thought that an efficient board will be elected. The Bullion-Beck has been quiet, with but $3 bid, offered at $3.50. Con. Mercur sold very heavily heav-ily at from ?2.08 to $2.12 1-2. The physical condition condi-tion of the mine never was as good as at present and they have more ore in sight than ever before. The mill is working most satisfactorily, they are treating a very large amount of ore and retreating retreat-ing at the old Mercur mill a very large tonnage of tailings daily. The annual report of the company will be completed within a very short time and it will show a surplus of at least $150,000. The usual monthly dividend of 3 cents a share has been declared. While Mercur may fluctuate at from $2 to $2.12 1-2 for a short time, eventually we predict that this stock will advance to at least $2.60, possibly $3, a share. The condition of the mine warrants the purchase of the stock as an interest-paying investment. j The Daly has sold at from $1.90 to $1.9G during i the week, and is quite firm at these figures at present. There has been considerable Daly West I stock offered on the market during the past week, B and in consequence it has declined, today being offered at $51.45, with $51 bid. The dividend that B this company is paying makes it a very attract-B attract-B ive investment at these figures. The question as B to the extent of their ore bodies is one which we fl are unable to answer at present Nearly every B one who has examined the property speaks very B highly of its condition. They are making such B heavy shipments that it must certainly fre quite B a heavy drain upon their mine. There is no sup-B sup-B port to the stock from inside sources, and, for B that reason, heavy offerings on the market cause B a decline. If their ore bodies justify them paying B their present rate of dividend, and the dividend B can be continued for a number of years, the stock fl is worth a great deal more money than it is selling B for at present. B There is a rumor that a deal is ponding on B the Dexter, at Tuscarora, which, if goes through, B will pay the shareholders $1 a share. We have B no faith in the sale being consummated, although K the property has quite a nice amount of ore in B siBht, and one of the best equipped mills in the m country. They have never made this property fl Pa. The shareholders have expected for a long fl time to receive dividends, but the company is still B in debt between ten and fifteen thousand dollars. The stock is offered at 30, with only 20 cents bid. fl E..gle & Blue Bell declined when tbe extension I was given on the sale which is pending, but is I Quite firm at from $1.05 to $1.10. Grand Central fl is strong at about $5. An, important strike is fl reported at this property, which has added con- siderable to its value. fl TLp Ingot advances ,as high as 12 cents, but is fl nw celling at about 9 1-4. While it ie true that fl there is a strong probability of some of the veins t thi- Mercur mine continuing into the Ingot Propei ty, the present workings are at least 250 get from the Ingot It is not at all likely that K lne Mercur company will deem it advisable to flj 3dd to their area for a considerable time,' and for hls reason we do not expect them to purchase j 'he Ingot property. The Mercur has enough Srouni of its own without doing so. If the Ingot company should conclude to drift into their prop-j prop-j rty through the Mercur, and make some arrange- ment with the Mercur to treat their ore, there would be a reason for the present advance; but we cannot think that present conditions warrant any great advance in the stock. Lower Mammoth is selling at from 80 to 90 cents. May Day is quite firm at about 23 cents. Ontario is firm at from $9 to $9.25. The Sacramento Sacra-mento made a shipment of their cyanide this week and it is said that the mill is doing very nicely. We think that Sacramento at present prices, 28 to 30 cents, is quite low. There have been rumors that the Silver King would increase its dividend, but this lacks confirmation. con-firmation. The stock is quite firm at about $80. The Silver Shield is selling at about G 1-4 to G 1-2 cents. We think that this is one of the speculative specu-lative stocks that it will pay to buy. Star Con., selling at from 17 to 19 cents, is very much lower than it usually sells, and we predict an advance in this stock. There is nothing noth-ing new to report with reference to the Swansea or South Swansea. "Uncle Sam is some lower, on account of it being near the time the 3-cent assessment as-sessment has to be paid. With a concentrator on their property, so they can realize on their low-grade low-grade ore, it is thought that the company will again return to the dividend column. Utah is quite strong at from 53 to 54 cents. Ben' Butler is shipping considerable ore; the stock is selling at from 14 to 14 1-2 cents. We are inclined in-clined to think that this stock is low, as within a short time they will be over their difficulty with the Liberal company, and can see no reason why they should not then commence the payment of dividends. California is selling at from 221-2 to 241-2 cents. The strike in the Comstock, which adjoins the California, has made the latter considerably more valuable. The 6-cent assessment which is pending will be quite liberally paid before it becomes be-comes delinquent. Century advanced to $1.02, but declined today to 94 cents. They report gold shipments amdunt-ing amdunt-ing to $3300. Dalton is strong, selling at from 4 to 4 1-2 cents. Martha Washington will be on the market soon with quite a nice shipment of ore. The stock is selling at from 5 3-4 to G 1-2 cents, and the condition of the mine indicates that they will be able to make shipments so as to make it a profitable proposition. We think that this stock will see very much higher figures within the next two weeks. Victor is stationary at from 20 to 22 cents. Yankee has advanced and is selling at from $1 to $1.02. Daly Judge has been selling at from $10.80 to $11. The reports from this property are most encouraging. They have good ore bodies and the development is increasing them each day. The Wabash, at Park City, declined to $1.20, but is now selling at from $1.50 to $1.60. The location loca-tion of the property is excellent and many seem to think that it is going to make a good paying mine. The Comstock, on account of a strike at the property, has advanced to $1.15. They have drifted almost 100 feet, it is said, on their vein, which shows very good values. In view of the fact that the prices of our stocks are very much lower than they were, so that at present many of them are selling below their intrinsic value, would it not be well to buy now? We would be pleased to answer any questions ques-tions regarding any of our Utah properties, and will send maps and quotations upon application. Yours very truly, HUDSON SONS COMPANY. P. S. Since writing the above an immense strike has been reported in the Wabash mine, at Park City. The stock made a rapid advance this afternoon and closed strong, with $2.25 bid. We havo been urging the purchase of this stock for some time, on account of the location of the property. |
