He beat a speedy HH 4 !lwHB ' retreat, and resolved to be more cautious in as- IB ll IB fuming the role of gay cavalier in the future. He says that those eastern tourist ladies have queer ideas of romance and adventure in the far west. c5 w i5 The younger set has been rather busy during the week, Miss Laura Bird giving a pretty luncheon lunch-eon on Wednesday, and others entertaining at Informal In-formal box parties at the different plays. t5 5 t The rosebud garden of girls that Brig Cannon took to see the three-round go between Gioconda Diante and Mrs. Settala on Monday night ,made up the most stunning looking box party of the week. I guess the ears of the little dearies were burning a-plenty, for everyone in the house was commenting on the pretty sight. fc?v 2& & Speaking of box parties, there will be unlimited unlim-ited opportunity for the boys to spend their money during the merry month of May. Anna Held comes first, but the girls will probably have to stag it, as the rush for front row seats will be unprecedented. Richard Mansfield follows the lady, and the great annual show of the Press club is next in order. Maude Adams trips in after that, and Sothern finishes the glorious list. If five magnificent productions do not clean the coffers cof-fers of society and everyone else, there's a guess missed, or else the smart set really has money to burn over the footlights. v w W Mrs. M. S. Woodward will probably be the lady chosen to represent Utah at the St. Louis fair and the choice, if made, will be a most happy one, for Mrs. Woodward is in every way capable of filling the fine position. t5 tjv v The last assembly will take place a week from Tuesday night, and as this is the only dancing event scheduled for the Immediate future, the attendance will probably be exceptionally large. C & t Miss Prances Elliott, who made so many friends here a year ago while visiting the Will Iglehearts, will visit them again this spring, and will also spend a week or two with the Harris Masters. v That hospital romance is assuming very definite defin-ite proportions, and I am told that the wedding is to be a very quiet affair, and that it is liable to occur most any old afternoon. They are seen at every matinee lately, except when the plumed knight takes the sister of the bride to be. & Mrs. Martha Royle King has opened a studio in the Commercial Club building, where she is receiving re-ceiving her pupils and other friends. The studio Is large enough for informal plays and musicales, and many delightful events are looked forward to. |
