H It runs: H "Brick" Geary, one of the most famous of H Western gamblers, has just closed his palace of H roulette in Salt Lake City. Geary is the only H sport in Zion who would alow "Joe" Leiter to play H a sky limit when that gentleman, of "The Pit" was H visiting Clarence McCornlck some months ago. H He played $700 a number, and after a play lasting H till another glorious Rocky Mountain sunrise, he H quit with a loss of only about three hundred. H "Brick" closed on account of the moral streak H now shooting through the Mormon metropolis. Griffin, the wedding wed-ding to take place the last of this month. Harris entertained at a luncheon on Wednesday in honor of Mrs. Heffron. Judge and Mrs. W. H. King entertained at dinner din-ner Sunday evening. Colonel Bubb gave an informal dinner Monday Mon-day evening. t2fi & c5 The marriage of Miss Lucile Taylor and Mr. Richard R. Romney took place in the temple Thursday Thurs-day morning. The young people left at noon for California mid a shower of rice and the best wishes of a host of friends. Whereabouts. I A large number of the smart set will attend the dedication of the World's Fair at St. Louis. Probably a car of Utahns will accompany Governor Gover-nor and Mrs. Wells. Mrs. P. A. Baldwin of Fort Harrison visited her brother, Mr. Frank Judge during the week. Miss Charlotte Holmes arrived with her father during the week and will be at the Knutsford for some time. Mrs. Sam King of Provo is the guest of Mrs. William H. King. Mrs. Florence L. Kirchen of San Francisco is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Keyes. Mr. David S. Murray has returned from the north. The Perry Heaths have taken the Anderson home on Brigham street. Mr. Burns MacDonald is in the city for a brief stay. Mrs. Olive S. Gaylord has returned from Cali-icrnia. Cali-icrnia. She is at the Fifth East hotel. Capt. and Mrs. Styer will spend the summer here. Mr. and Mrs. David Keith ire in Los Angeles. & & Alviras E. Snow entertained at a more or less laish banquet on Tuesday evening, as a mark ot the jubilation he telt over his victory in the May Deal deal. The guests were Bill Griffiths, H. A. Fulton, Ed Pickering, Richard Guenther and A. Ku Klux Nicholson. Mr. Snow appointed appoint-ed Pick a committee ot one to ai range for the feast, and when the revelers arrived at the banquet ban-quet hall they were astounded by a view of large clusters of American Beauties and other elabo- I rate table ornaments. Likewise these festive I epicures were regaled with a dinner of eight courses, and the conversation was punctuated with the poping of many corks.
