Show XSrotihles in Ogdem. About the silliest thing connected with the poet mortom examination of Uncle John Seaman's election boomerang is the letter of Abbott R. Heywood, Hey-wood, which was given so much prominence in tho Ogden departments of tho Salt Lake newspapers one day this week. Mr. Heywood has long been known as a "Chronic" kicker. At the last election he was a bolter from his party, an open ally of the Democrats, and since the cataclysm of November 4th has been nursing several sore spots on his anatomy, one at least of which it seems impossible impossi-ble to heal. By the way, it seems a little strange that Col. Hayes should be so anxious to publish a letter which at the very best is a reflection either upon his integrity or his stamina. Everything connected con-nected with the charges against certain of the Republican Re-publican candidates for re-election haa been before be-fore the public for more than a month; it has been explained, argued pro and con, passed on by tho people at the election. Col. Hayes is the public prosecutor. He ought to have some common sense and a slight smattering of legal learning. If the law has been violated his plain duty requires him to prosecute the law breakers. This is what makes makes the Heywood letter look like "buncombe." It is pitiful to see the small fry coterie that surround Uncle John in this matter "whine" because be-cause people refuse to take their view of the situation. sit-uation. At one time they became panic stricken over a report that State Auditor Tlngey is going to "whitewash" "tho courthouse gang" (as they are pleased to call the holdovers). At another time they bewail the fact that no one can be found who will prosecute the law breakers. Now they are trying to inject some Heywood "hop" into the valiant Colonel. Verily the last end of this "gang's" jaw is worse than the first. Tho announcement as recently made in the columns of tho Salt Lake Tribune that Col. A. B. Hayes haa again taken charge of the Ogden Tribune Trib-une bureau caused a broad grin to overspread the countenances of the initiated. It has long been an "open secret" that the "man Friday," who was nominally in charge, was nothing more than a "catspaw"; that the weekly pantomime was a "Punch and Judy" show, with the Colonel pulling the string.
