Show AN AWAKENING HOPE. There is no concealment of tho fact that the Democrats in Utah are rejoicing over this diversion diver-sion started by Kearns and Company; we mean the masses of Democrats. They gleefully assort that the new party will draw to it two or three Republicans for every one Democrat, and, out of the political darkness that enveloped them a month ago, they begin to see a great light. In the same connection, we notice that the"Her-ald, the"Her-ald, in considering some possibilities put forth by the New York Times, states that the next Senate may be a Democratic Senate. It calls the Times' attention at-tention to the fact that if Utah sends cne Democrit to. the Senate it will almost surely send two. Could anything in tho world have caused the Herald Her-ald to make that statement a month ago? Hardly. The decent peopie of Utah long ago decided in their own minds that the rule of a gold boss was more offensive while it lasted than Church rule. i JH The only difference being that the gold boss does ! not last while the church slavery go03 on forever jH and ever. That fact is just as apparent in Utah j today as it was the first day that the people jj dropped on it. Think of a man who bought his ' H office and honors from the head of the church, cry- H Ing out, the first time his own corns are-trod upon, H against church rule. H |
