Show Panguitch Girls Finish With Perfect Region Record The Panguitch High School girls finished their first ever 12-0 12-0 regular league season last weekend with a 54-29 win over Escalante. The Lady Bobcats only led 18-14 as they missed team leader and scorer Shelly Hatch, who is nursing a sore knee. However, the Lady Bobcats came back behind the scoring of Lacee Leach with 14, laura Boshelll2 and Jena Sawyer 10. Sophomore start Laura Richmond hit for 12, Elisa Cottam hit 8 of 10 free throws and Katie Griffin scored 7 for the Moquis. Coaches Curtis Barney and Scott Christensen have developed devel-oped a solid program of fundamental funda-mental sound basketball at PHS. they have led the team to four straight 1A Championship games, while winning the last three. Panguitch heads to the State Tournament in Cedar City this week to defend those three titles. It will not be easy. Rich, Wayne, Valley, St. Joseph's and Layton Christian all enter the tournament with a chance to win this year. Escalante will have to win a playoff game to get in to the championship. Bryce Valley was eliminated from tournament play, losing to wayne in their final game at Bicknell. |
