Show Rex Smart Named New BLM Manager KANAB Rex Smart has been named as the Manager of the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM)-Kanab Field Office and started his assignment Jan. 27. "The Kanab Field Office has more natural resource issues than any other office I have worked in and will definitely be a challenge. I'm looking forward for-ward to meeting those challenges chal-lenges and building working relationships with all the people and groups that have an interest in BLM activities," said Smart. Smart was born in Tucumcari, NM and spent his-early his-early years in that state. He graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in Range Science and has been with the BLM a little over 18 years. Smart worked in the Las Cruces, NM District for ten years and on the Salmon District in Idaho for six years. He has worked for the Kanab Field Office for two years. His hobbies are hunting, camping and horseback riding, and he considers the Kanab area perfect for those activities. Rex and his wife, Nancy have four grown children. Smart follows Verlin Smith, who transferred to BLM's Utah State Office in March 2001. |
