Lucille Linford Jackson has moved into the new home on First South near the elementary school. The Loyhova and Cornelia camps of the DUP combined to hold their last meeting of the year. Lorraine Allen gave the history of her grandmother Mary (Mamie) Hannah Heywood Sevy. Verda Oldham gave the lesson on pioneers of Uintah and Daggett counties. The new officers of the Loyhova camp are Grace Sandberg, Marie Liston, Verda Oldham, Gloria Houston, Neucile Yardley, Dorothy Houston and Donna Chidester. Cornelia camps new officers are Annette Heywood, Pearl Walker, Barbara Talbot, Loa Sevy, Pauline Prince, Julia Steele, Hilma Excell, Barbara Marshall, Annette Beckstrom and Elizabeth Foy. Any woman 18 years old or . older who has an ancestor who came to Utah between July 1847 and May 1869 or who is a native pioneer born in Utah territory before the railroad was completed, is eligible to become a member of the DUP. Contact any officer for more information. Eric Thompson of Provo is the new owner of Western Town Resort south of Panguitch. Several local residents work there. Big additions and improvements are in the works. Zitting Brothers Construction is building a home west of town on the dips road for the Shawn Parkin family. Robert Hotchkiss is the owner of the new house high on the hill south of town and west of Highway 89. He is a new member of the Lions Club. The Robert Driedonks, who own the Paunsagaunt Museum, are now here and the museum is open. News of Panguitch natives families: Bell Boyter Smith's grandson left on May 8 to go to an LDS mission to Hiroshima, Japan. Dean and Angeli Tebbs Sheffer's son Cody went to the same mission on the same day. The Sheffers older son Ryan arrived home on May 1 1 from . the San Diego Spanish speaking mission. Richard and Irene Henrie Tebbs of Cedar City arrived home on May 9 after a vacation in Denmark. They spent time there seeing the country, searching for ancestor records, and generally having interesting experiences, Richard has been teaching at Southern Utah University for many years. The Kindergarten students and their teachers Leslie Barnhurst and DeAnn Gillies, along with several parents, went on a field trip to the fish hatchery near Hatch. With the furious wind blowing they were lucky to escape being blown through the air back to Panguitch. The base of the planned bell tower at the elementary school is laid and ready to be built to hold the historic bell from the 100-year-old schoolhouse which was torn down. In the 4th LDS ward, Angela Mullenaux was sustained as personal progress leader for the Young Women. Nicole Reynolds was called to be a nursery leader. Little Abby Christensen Davis was blessed by her father Mike Davis. Mike teaches at the high school and is a grandson of native Glenna Cameron. Susan" Sawyer of the 3rd Ward took the Primary children there to sing for, the folks. Calvin Wilson is a nev resident at the Center. Brandon Henrie, son of Chris and Jody Davis and the late Dennis Henrie, recently returned from his, South Africa mission. The pasL week he went north to the wedding of a former companion. Brandon's grandmothers here are Blanche Pendleton and Shirley Henrie, and he has many other relatives in-town. Roene Dickinson is home from, her winter's stay in Dixie. She says . she will be moving around visiting, family members here and there. Barney and Ida Shannon are home from St. George along with Laine and Gloria Sevy. The Sevys" are LDS temple workers and so. return to St. George often. ; Cal and Marjorie Davies are-home are-home from Arizona for thel summer. It is good to see people re, turning. In the LDS 4th Ward, Charles Hepworth was sustained a counselor in the Sunday School Presidency Youth speakers were Lonnie Millgate and Shawn Marshall. Re turned missionaries Brandon Hath- cock and Trevor Pollock reported,, their missions. The Primary sang a, special song for mothers. , Joe and Evelyn Black's daughter Jana and her husband were visitors.. In the LDS 2nd Ward on Mother's Day, the speakers were" Greg Excell and Brian Foy. Special musical numbers were sung by the; Primary and the Young Men and;-t Young Women of the ward. Ryan, and Tammy Houston were called to; be Sunday School teachers. Grant ', and Avonell Tebbs were called to be library workers. Mike Owens was" called to be the 11-year-old scouts, leader. Andilyn Marie Walsh, daughter of Scott and Jacquelyn Walsh, was blessed by John Yardley. Many friends and relatives were in attendance. She is a granddaughter of Nancy Walsh and great-granddaughter great-granddaughter of Clarence and Hazel Cameron. Jonnie Lyn Burningham, daughter daugh-ter of Rick and Sherrie Burning-ham, Burning-ham, was married to Benjamin Josephson of Spanish Fork on May 19. A reception was held that evening eve-ning in Panguitch. Cori. Payne, daughter of Greg and Claudia Payne, returned home a little early from her LDS mission after she had an accident that broke her arm. Lance Miller, son of Jim and June Ann Miller, visited with his folks. He had been in Texas where he met Art Cooper in church. Art says he is selling his home there (See PANGUITCH on page 10-A) 1 PANGUITCH From Page 9-A and coming back to Panguitch to live. Lucile and Sheldon Proctor spent a few days in Texas. They are now home to stay. Natalie and David Larson and family and Glenn Liston were here visiting with mom Marie Liston. They attended the funeral for their uncle Lynn Liston in Escalante. Visiting at the home of Eva Marshall have been her son-in-law Doyle Peterson and his daughter Cynthia Matthews. ' Ron Orton and David and Franklin Worthen have been here getting Frank and Cecile Orton's home ready for them to come home for a while. David and Franklin took David's parents Vee and Adele Worthen to Cedar City one day. Nancy Pearson Saunders, daughter of Craig and Mary Lou Marshall Pearson, graduated from Brigham Young University. Her grandparents are Monte and Cleo Marshall. Larry and Linda Mrkvicka went to California for the blessing of a grandchild. Three of their children and families spent the week with : them. The Mrkvickas attended ! General Conference in the new Conference Center, as did Evan and Ruth Boshell and family. More snowbirds have returned: A.J. and Rosemary Cook, Bert and , Thora Leach, Miles and Esther Barney and Bill and Sarah Kay. Ted and Shirley Chidester enjoyed their grandchildren while 1 their son Bart and daughter-in-law Julie attended meetings in Las Vegas. Dee L. Chidester and Art and Dorothy Chidester visited family and friends in town. J Dale Julander came from Guam ' to see his parents, Afton and Ilene, and sister Marlene Miller. He works for a phone company that takes him all over the world. He was on his way to Australia. 1 Randy and Debbie Hatch ' and children, Justin and Ann, Brandon and Brandy, Heath and Teresa, attended the wedding of Debbie's sister Lynn's child in Moab. Ruth Owens had her children and grandchildren come to visit and help celebrate her birthday. Annette and Holly Hulet went to Seattle to visit the Michael Hulets. Frank and Lola Henrie enjoyed visits from their granddaughters, the children of Cathy and Pat Henrie Shirley Henrie has been up north taking care of greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren and seeing the new home of son Paul's daughter Christy. Casey Howard Franklin and her small son have been here visiting with her folks, Clark and Flora Howard and family. Peterson and Robert Miller attended Forest Service meetings in Salt Lake City. Carolyn Crofts came to see her brother Richard and family and good friend Joann Orton. Vaughn and Lenore Heaton and Frank and Jerilu Houston attended market week in Dallas, Texas. Catherine Jensen Anderson of Salt Lake City visited with her dad Doug Jensen. Our postmaster, Dennis Armstrong, has had surgery. Get well soon! Alicia Richards, daughter of Ned and Mary Richards, graduated from Southern Utah University. Her grandmother here is Ingra Richards. Beth Cherrington Evans and a grandson spent one night at her home here. Gary and Ellen Cameron spent a few days in their home here. They also attended the graduation of their daughter at SUU. Visiting Keith and Sharon Moore were their son Darin and family. Darin and his wife have three children. Michael Whiting is tiome from Basic Training with the Utah National Guard. Stan and Lana Foy have a new granddaughter. Lana went to Phoenix Phoe-nix to be with daughter Ami and family. |
