Show Garkane Board Names Officers RICHFIELD Garkane Power Association's Board of Directors selected its officers for the coming year at their May 22 meeting. LaDon Torgerson of Koosharem was reelected president of the board. Directors Terry Griffiths, Orderville, and Marjie Lee Spencer, Escalante, were elected vice president and secretarytreasurer respectively. The board also elected representatives to two statewide organizations in which Garkane participates. Director George Blackburn, Fremont, will continue to represent Garkane's interests on the Board of Directors of Deseret Generation and Transmission Cooperative, with Director Michael Blackburn, Bicknell, serving as alternate. In addition to her secretarytreasurer duties, Spencer will serve as the cooperative's representative with Utah Rural Electric Association, with Director Niel Biggs, Duck Creek, serving as alternate. All board members were present for the meeting including newly-elected newly-elected District 7 Director Randy Brown, Kanab Ranchos, who attended his first meeting. Brown was elected to replace longtime director Nolan Button's residency in an area not served by Garkane precluded his seeking reelection. Button, however, was allowed to complete his term, as will District 6 Director Hugh Wilson, Hatch. Wilson, who is currently working in Salt Lake City, will move his family there at the end of the school year but will continue to return to Hatch on weekends to care for his property there. He has promised his constituents that he will fulfill his term and his commitment as a director. In other action, the board determined to move as quickly as possible in holding an election for a director from the Garkane's newly-formed newly-formed District 9. At Garkane's . (See GARKANE on page 6-A) GARKANE From Front Page annual meetings held in April, the membership reapportioned several existing districts and created District 9 to represent members in the eastern Kane County communities of Big Water and Church Wells, along with those Garkane accounts located in Northern Arizona.
