Show Area Obituaries Marland 'Mel' Richins ESCALANTE, Utah -Marland Lumon "Mel" Richins, Jr., 84, passed away at his home in Escalante on Apr. 1, 2004. He was born July 5, 1919 in El Paso, Tex., to Gladys Ward and Marland Lumon Richins, Sr. He married Vaunie Griffin, Feb. 12, 1949 in Ely, Nev. Their marriage mar-riage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He drove cab, was a mechanic mechan-ic for Hi Land Dairy, an electrician electri-cian for Union Pacific Rail Road, plumber, heavy equip-' ment operator and a truck driver. He was a "Jack of All Trades". He retired in 1985 and moved to Escalante from Salt Lake City. He was a volunteer school crossing guard and was later appointed to be the Justice Court Judge for 10 years. He was an active member of the LDS Church and held many positions. posi-tions. He helped his son Curt at his business for many years. He loved the outdoors, fishing, fish-ing, hunting, camping and family fami-ly reunions. He furnished the town with fruits and vegetables of all kinds; if you needed hot peppers, he had them. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. His family was by his side at his passing, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Vaunie of Escalante; children, Norma Jo Ward and Larry of Adin, Calif, Melvin Curtis I - I I " ; $ ; .. . 4 1 ; S Mel Richins (Diane) Richins of Escalante, David Lorin (Becky) Richins of Pine, (Ariz.; and Maria Vauneen (Terry) Olsen of Escalante; 15 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ward (Ginger) Richins, Adrian (Vivian) Richins, Melbourne Richins; and sister, Caralee Stanley. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Lynnette Richins; sisters-in-law, Beth Richins and Flo Mitchell; and brothers-in-law, Doug Stanley and Cecil Griffin.' Funeral services were held Wednesday, Apr. 7, 2004 at the Escalante LDS Stake Center. Burial was in the Escalante Cemetery. Funeral Directors, Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield, Utah. Neucile Boyter Henrie Funeral services for Neucile Boyter Henrie of Panguitch, Utah, were held Tuesday, Mar. 30, 2004 at the Panguitch 3rd Ward LDS Chapel. Presiding was Bishop Wallace Lee. Officiating was Brother Wallace K. Henrie, a son. The family prayer was offered by son-in-law Daniel B. Frandsen. Prelude and postlude music was provided by Pam Robison. The invocation was offered by Sheleece Henrie. Great-granddaughter Dam Frandsen sai "Grandmother", accompanied by Sherril C. Henrie. A life sketch followed by daughter-in-law Judy T. Henrie and a tribute was given by Chris Henrie, a son. Sherril Henrie followed with a musical selection. Speaking next was Neucile, a cousin and Bishop Lee provided closing remarks. Grand-daughters Vikki and Kami Laurence sang "Precious Memories" accompanied by Sherril Henrie. The benediction was offered by grandson Craig Dickinson. Pallbearers were Jerold Henrie, a son; and grandsons Bart Henrie, Jason Henrie, Doug Henrie, Daniel W. Frandsen, - JoioJ Frand&cii, Mikol Hemic and Kolby Henrie. Honorary pallbearers included includ-ed grandsons Dean Higley, David Frandsen, Randall Dickinson and SPC Gordon Dickinson. Flower girls were granddaughters and great-granddaughters. great-granddaughters. Burial was at the Panguitch City Cemetery where son Carl Henrie dedicated the grave. Funeral directors: Neal S.
