Show Area Obituaries I 1 ; 1 Maxine Joseph Cooper OREM, Utah Our beloved wife, mother and friend, Maxine Joseph Cooper, passed away early Monday morning in Orem, Utah. She was 63. She was born on Dec. 29, 1938, in Cedar City, Utah, to Howard and Vilate Crawford Joseph. She was the oldest of seven children. Maxine attended Parowan High School, where she excelled in all that she did. She served as a cheerleader, drum majorettebaton twirler, class officer, and editor, and she was also named the Salt Lake Tribune's June "Teen of the Week" in 1957. They described Maxine as "pretty, poised, and talented. Here's a girl who knows what shes doing and who's going to do quite a bit." She also was named "Miss Iron County." In the fall of 1957, Maxine attended College of Southern Utah in Cedar City, where she served as Student Body Vice-President. Vice-President. It was here mat she met Frank D. Cooper of Panguitch, Utah. They were married in the St. George, Utah, Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Sept. 12, 1959. Maxine was a very active member of the LDS church and served in many capacities. She had been serving a temple mission mis-sion at the time of her passing. She also served as a visiting teacher, Primary President, and other various positions within the church. She supported four of her children as they served missions in Washington, D.C.; Brussels, Belgium; Eugene, Oregon; and Porto, Portugal. Maxine completed her college col-lege education at Southern Utah State College and Brigham Young University. She held a degree in elementary education. She spent the last 21 years i Maxine Cooper teaching and serving the 1st graders at Cherry Hill Elementary. During her years of teaching, Maxine contributed her time, energy, and innovative ideas, leadership, and love to continually improve her school. Her dedication was .reflected in her support and presence at academic, aca-demic, athletic, cultural, social, and community events. She earned the respect of students and colleagues alike for her dedication, ded-ication, enthusiasm, competence and contributions to Cherry Hill Elementary. Maxines time on this earth was spent serving others especially her family. She is remembered for her hard work, cheerful attitude, common sense, friendliness, and respect for all those around her. Maxine is the mother of six children and has 11 grandchildren. grandchil-dren. She is survived by her husband and partner of 43 years, Frank D. Cooper, Orem; children, chil-dren, Todd (Diane) Cooper of Boise, Idaho; Michelle Cooper of Orem; Kristin (Dale) Cranney of Midway; Kenneth (Laura) Cooper of St. George; Paul (Sarah) Cooper of Provo; and Nathan Cooper of Orem; brothers and sisters, Brenda ; Day, Seattle, Wash.; David '. ; Joseph, Salt Lake City; Shirley Beck, Elko, Nev.; Lynette ' Joseph, Anaheim, Calif.; and ; Mark Joseph, Layton. Maxine spent countless hours -'. with her children and always ; supported their activities. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. "She is preceded in death by ' her parents; and a brother, Roy Joseph. Maxine loved reading, golfing, golf-ing, and traveling with her spouse and family. Frank and Maxine made their home in California, New Mexico, and Utah. She enjoyed living in these areas as well as visiting and vacationing throughout the Western United States. Our mother and friend lived her life with grace and dignity. She passed from this life the same way. We appreciate all those who helped to make her life beautiful! We extend our thanks to those who provided the care and service that made her last days comfortable. As a family, we wish to express our love and gratitude to our dear wife, mother, and grandmother for her time and care. We thank her for teaching us, giving us direction, and making our lives rewarding and fulfilling. She will be greatly missed by all those who know her. We know that she is now at rest and look forward to being with her again. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Sunset Heights 6th Ward Chapel, 500 S. 600 West, in Orem, where friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Panguitch Cemetary at 4:30 p.m. Funeral directors, Neal S..
