Show By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 A pair of crows flies over the valley every day to keep the cattle cat-tle in the fields company. The Shawn Parkin house south of the KOA has a basement base-ment now. The Joe Deckers took their German foreign exchange student stu-dent to Cedar City to a movie and found themselves sitting next to Earl and Evalyn Roe and their foreign exchange student. Having these students here is good for all of us, especially the students at school. The Mike Connells have been here from Texas to visit his mother, Edna Clark, in the Care Center. They then went to Enoch to visit with her folks. Edna is home now with Home Health to help her out. The Paul Julander's garage is being built with block walls. The addition to Connie Barney Dalton's house is going well. It has additions on the north and the west. Ralph and Sheri Wilcock are having major addition and building work done on their home. It is the former Harry Judd house. The brick walls were already covered with siding sid-ing but since the ancient floors and some walls had to be replaced, the Wilcocks are staying stay-ing with Ralph's sister and brother-in-law, Henry and Tanya Thomas. It has turned into an almost complete remodeling job. At the Care Center LDS Sacrament meeting Elaine Baldwin told about their very different LDS mission on the Navajo reservation in Arizona. Elaine spends three days each week taking care of her father out of town. The Cade Crofts home next to Steele Henrie will have two stories. The walls are up but there is no roof yet. In the Panguitch LDS 1st Ward, some of the college stu-. stu-. dents were the speakers. They were Danny Yardley, Catherine Howard, Mayo Miller, Ashley Nay and Nate Houston. The speakers in the Panguitch LDS 4th Ward were Jennifer Reynolds, Doug Tebbs and Heather and Caleb Osborn. Cleve and Tamra Talbot Weaver and three children came from Cedar City to see Grandma Mamie Talbot. Margaret Decker and Ingo Westerman will take her mother, 1 Bea Ramos, to California to spend some time. The Decker's granddaughter, Miranda, will be baptized then. Joe Decker will go to National Guard on Jan. 12 and, stay , for 45 days while his unit helps with the Olympics. Speakers in the Panguitch LDS . 3rd Ward were Lisa Williams, Dusty Veater, Bracken Englestead, Teresa Sawyer and Brock Soper. Katie Cooper presented a special musical number. In the Panguitch LDS 2nd Ward, Justin Woolsey related some of his experiences while attending National Guard Basic Training in Oklahoma and Maryland. Derrick and Laura Pollock shared some of the things their parents taught them so they would be prepared to go out on their own. Karli Owens sang "When Joseph Went to Bethlehem," and Laura Pollock sang "Do You Know Who You Are?" The public schools are now back in action and most college students and visitors are gone. Christmas decorations are coming com-ing down for another year. Happy New Year! By Earl Roe 676-2376 I move slower and the years move faster and the year we just left behind is another we will long remember. The events of this year have probably had the greatest effect on the way we will now live and think than any other single year. "Remember the Twin Towers," or "Remember the Trade Center," will probably join "Remember Pearl Harbor" and "Remember the Alamo," as phrases that will stay with us forever. Hopefully this tragic event will awaken more Americans to the fact that our society and our economy has been under attack for almost half a century, but not in such a drastic manner. Enough of my thoughts, let's get on with the news. Denny Orton's family traveled trav-eled to North Carolina over the holidays. He, Jean, Torie and Ashlee flew out of Las Vegas, (See PANGUITCH on page 3A) Panguitch News From Page 2-A Nev. and Aimee flew our of Salt Lake City to join them in Winston Salem, at the home of son-in-law and daughter, John and Christy Savage and granddaughter, grand-daughter, Maya. John is finishing finish-ing his work, on a masters degree in Theater and Fine Arts at a university in Winston Salem. Denny said they spent as much time as possible spoiling their only granddaughter, but they did visit as many interesting sites as possible including Arlington National Cemetery and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Another highlight was a visit with Shannon Pollock, son of Vance and Jeanene Pollock. Shannon is serving a mission in North Carolina and Denny called his mission president and got permission per-mission to spend a day with him. They all had a wonderful time on this holiday vacation. (I'll bet Denny couldn't wait to get back to his job of keeping the roads clear after our winter storms). Nostalgia how many of you recall the song 'The Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia?" If I remember correctly, it was the theme song of a 1930's movie, "The Trail of the Lonesome Pine" with Henry Fonda and some actress. (Back in those days I didn't pay much attention to the girls. Four of our five children managed to visit us during the holidays. Russell had to settle with a couple of phone calls as . Omaha was too far for his time off. Doug, our youngest son, brought his family from Yosemite National Park. They spent part of the holidays with her mother and sister in Provo and Ogden, then came to Panguitch for four days. I called to make sure they arrived home safely and learned they were held up for more than an hour due to a multi-car pile up south of Las Vegas, Nev. I am sure there were lots of others "home for the holidays" but no one has called in to me. Perhaps Mamie will report on all of them. With this thought in mind, I can now get on to the unpleasant task of taking all the decorations down and storing them for another year. For some reason it isn't nearly as much fun to take them down and put them away as it is to get them out and put them up. I couldn't find one for the holiday season, but this carries a good thought for frequent road conditions at this time of year.
