Show Las Vegas Star Saturday Concert Will Benefit Proposed Fun Park For County's Kids PANGUITCH In a benefit concert to do some serious fundraising to build a Roller BladeSkateboard Park in Panguitch, interternationally known Las Vegas musician Mark Huff and his band, the Mark Huff Four, will make their Panguitch debut on Saturday, Mar. 31. All proceeds from the concert will go the proposed park. Huff is the son of local Panguitch Pan-guitch residents Al Whalen and Jeanne Russo. The concertdance will take place at the Social Hall beginning from 7 until midnight The cost of admission will be $6 for singles and $10 for couples. A regular at Las Vegas venues such as Mandalay Bay and the House of Blues, Huff has been working in the music industry since 1981. He was born in Florida and the city in which he was raised permeates the themes of his songs. His career started with the local celebrated group Smart Bomb and in 1985 Huff formed Big Wow, eventually setting up his place of operations in Los Angeles. In 1990, Huff set out for Las Vegas, (See SKATEBOARD on pg 3A) SKATEBOARDS From Front Page releasing his first disc, Happy Judgement Day with Exodus Records. In 1993 a second work, Truth Is Chaos, was released backed by a band he put together called The Inflatables. With all the recognition from that second release, Huff was asked to open for his long-time hero Bob Dylan and was off on road tours opening for The Smithereens, John Wesley Harding and Jonathan Richman. All the road experience has given Huff a great reputation with loca'l promoters who know they can count on him to give a great show when he is put in the opening slot for national acts such as Chris Issak, Matthew Sweet, Al Green, the Doobie Brothers or Little Feet. In 1997 Huff put together a new outfit to back him up, which eventually became his current band, the Mark Huff Four. This includes Scott Rhiner, guitar; Brian Cline, bass; Dennis Osinski, drums and Chris Nichols on keyboard. In 1999 he released Skeleton Faith, which has garnered, critical acclaim for its body of soulful, rootsy ine-odies ine-odies and honest, hard-edged storytelling. At the concert fund raisers will hold a drawing for a new skateboard donated through the efforts of Grandma Tina's Restaurant, Flying M Restaurant, Foy's Country Corner Cafe, the AmocoMinute Market 1 4 and Ken and Ren Construction. Drawing tickets are available for $1 from either Daphne Greene or Celeste Brown and will also be sold at the door.
