Show Escalante Will Celebrate Nov. 11 Veterans Day ESCALANTE - Residents in Escalante will celebrate Veterans Day; Thursday, Nov. 1 1 with a series of everits throughout through-out the day. Elementary school students will participate in a short Flag Program at the New Veterans Memorial at the Escalante City Park presented by the American Legion Post 114 at 10 a.m. They will will place small flags in honor of all veterans at that time at the park and later they will place flags at the Escalante City Cemetary. Veterans' memorabilia will be on display at Escalante High School commons area from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. followed by a short program at 7 p.m. L'deane Trueblood, the artist who created the bronze sculpture sculp-ture which was placed in the Veterans' Memorial this summer will speak on what lead her to create the tribute to all veterans. Members of the Bald Eagle Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will join the American Legion in the salute to veterans. Howard Miller, president of the Potato Valley Lions Club will present plans to build a Veterans' Memorial Pavilion at the City Park which will include a kitchen, tables and restrooms. Donations can be made to any member of that club. They hope that it will be completed by Memorial Day 2005. |
